

She is currently studying a Master of Arts at the University of New South Wales Art and Design. Shahroud Ghahani (20KB) is an Iranian-Australian artist who holds a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) and a Graduate Diploma (New Media) from the University of Technology Sydney. Mixing various media, the figurative and abstract, the macro and micro, stillness and movement, she invites happy accidents while asking, experimenting and drawing. Having been exposed to many cultures, Oiyama is aware of the possibility of another way of seeing, another way of responding in art making. In Sydney she switched her field to fine art, and obtained MA, MFA and PhD from the University of New South Wales. Walking on the hot sand, seeing the Autumn colours, feeling the frost in the air, and then witnessing the budding greens, she draws and experiments, while asking that question.īorn in Japan, she subsequently lived and worked as a graphic designer in Holland, the USA, Indonesia, Singapore and New Zealand before settling in Australia. For her, drawing is a way of asking questions, and one question she has been asking is what it means for all things to be in the constant state of transience. Artists working with sustainable concepts or materials are prioritised. The Artist in Residence program at the Coal Loader is available free-of-charge to one artist. There are four low-cost shared studio spaces offered on a temporary basis which are currently tenanted until December 2021. The studios are located in the former Bradfield Park Community Centre in Milsons Point. There are six fully equipped low-cost shared studio spaces provided on a twelve-month basis, which are currently tenanted until October 2022.

The studios are located at Primrose Park Arts Centre in Cremorne. Note: the monthly Public Program of open days and workshops will only be held if Covid 19 Public Health Orders allow.
